Where have all those fonts gone?

I was recently in searching for some very simple fonts which usualy come with MS Office, or other Microsoft software which i don’t have installed, as for my needs OpenOffice.org is quite suitable (and it has PDF export plug-in, too).

I have a fresh XP installation for a few weeks now, but i haven’t backup some of the most usual fonts (assuming they are installed with OS by default), for example “Arial Narrow”. So i went to Microsoft pages to download full font package (i don’t know the exact name anymore), but it seems that service is not available for some time. After spending a few minutes fighting with their advanced search options, i finally got ’em: package No. 1, package No. 2 and package No. 3 for your pleasure.

I don’t digg much for various unusual or extraordinary oh-you’re-so-crazy typefaces, so if you know about some simple fonts, let me know… Oh, may! Almost forgot to tell you about free Adobe Euro Fonts.

This font-related post is right on time with discovery of Can you Type? typographic gallery (via Mezzoblue). Speaking of galleries and inspiration, i suggest you take a look at what’s goin’ on over at Cameron Moll’s and Speak Up.
