How about people who excel in their given field?

It helps to remember the obvious sometimes. I think all the other answers given here are pretty subjective, and discount a good few people I’d put in the category.

I know this is a little late since you’ve already written a new post, but I too know a handful of people who are REALLY good at what they do but don’t necessarily work their hardest, strive to increase their skills, or share what they know with others. Those are people I would call talented or gifted…but not experts. I knew a few people in college like that as well. They would party every night, never study, and skip or come late to class. Somehow though they’d ace every test and come up with great ideas on projects. …those are the people who fake blink elements using javascript :) j/k
