{"id":117,"date":"2005-07-16T22:47:20","date_gmt":"2005-07-16T20:47:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.maratz.com\/blog\/archives\/2005\/07\/16\/ch-ch-ch-changes\/"},"modified":"2005-12-30T09:53:38","modified_gmt":"2005-12-30T07:53:38","slug":"ch-ch-ch-changes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.maratz.com\/blog\/archives\/2005\/07\/16\/ch-ch-ch-changes\/","title":{"rendered":"Ch-ch-ch-changes&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Due to a sudden goodbye of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hicksdesign.co.uk\/journal\/this-is-not-the-greatest-blog-in-the-world-this-is-just-a-tribute\">John Oxton<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.designinflight.com\/\">Andy Arikawa<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/1976design.com\/blog\/archive\/2005\/07\/16\/hello-and-goodbye\/\">Dunstan Orchard<\/a> to the standards blogging community, I felt strong sense of emptiness. It\u2019s always far more difficult for those who stay, than to those who are leaving. There is, however, a constant fluctuation of the new hopes.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Most of the young guns, and I mean <em>young<\/em> in the manner of relative anonymity in the branch (well at least in the web standards blogosphere), showcase their sites in the CSS galleries around the \u2018net, trying to fit-in and therefore provide great content. Once we were all like that (some of us still are). The credibility that blogger gains thru all the good content assures faithful visitors keep the feed on the list for months, even years, without a single update. But sometimes, due to personal and mostly professional development, it\u2019s almost impossible to write a single entry.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s all natural and what has been yesterday, doesn\u2019t have to be tomorrow. I myself have been exhausted on some topics in a way of fighting the fight. For me, the web standards \u2018vs.\u2019 debates are pretty boring already. We all know what\u2019s right and what\u2019s not. We should move on and start doing what we preached. Standards can help you make better web sites, but they are not secret super-power for producing overall successful web sites. Involvement in standards by itself is not insurance you are making good web sites.<\/p>\n<p>Once a person master new tool, either it\u2019s a hammer, Chinese chop-sticks, CSS or remote scripting, she moves to the next level and she focuses on other things to explore. It\u2019s the same with designing\/developing web sites. Move on, learn something new, make a change. Otherwise, you\u2019ll stuck in the middle of nowhere.
